The benefit of social media marketing can only be realized if you take the right steps and reach out with the right mediums. One of the best ways for you to determine whether or not your social media marketing campaign is actually benefitting your business is through tracking social media marketing efforts. There are a wide variety of different ways that you can monitor the social media buzz, monitoring your brand and protecting the reputation that you have worked so very hard to earn. Online reputation management applications and tools make it possible to determine just how your brand is spreading online via social media marketing.

How you decide to track your social media marketing efforts is going to depend on what social media outlets you are using to communicate with current and potential customers. Computer Newtworking…from the beginning

IS-IS Designated System on a LAN

In the Beginning of the early 1960′s there was no such thing as Computer Networks, but in the late 1960′s it emerged. As Computer networks emerged people started to notice that computer networks inherited many properties from its predessors called the telephone Network. Which this was no suprise because the telephone and the computer are both universal ways of communication. At this time computer networking brought something new to the world of communication namely the inexhaustable store of information. The Information store is continuing to grow at a steadily fast rate, this became more in the 1980′s. But in the 60′s there were only 2 types of computer networking. the first to come alog was the Local Area network (LAN) which was used for Local areas, such as for home use, small businesses and schools. then came along the Wide Area network (WAN). Wide area networks which were computer newtworks that covered a broad area, which were also used when the need for connecting computers located at longer distances from one another. Which that satrated with the solution for simplier tasks such as providing access to a computer terminal located hundreds even thousnads of miles away. That was where the modem came in to play which was used to connectterminal to the computer through the telephone. Most peopple in the time used the Local area network. After they developed each network they decided to develope a third which was called a metropolitian area network. the Metropolitain area network was pretty much only used in larger cities. Once into the 80′s and 90′s wide area connection were operated on the basis of fast digital channels, which significantly widen the the variety of services earlier developed in the local area network. So by late 1990′s the World wide web was created to be the mainn information service of the internet.

Networking isn’t just about computer these days. Networking can be relationship building among people with similiar interests and goals. It can involve getting to know people and developing a list of connections. Networking can help you succeed in you professioal career also usually isn’t one sided or a one time event. Networking is the key strategy in the career management process, as your network grows it becomes interchangable and then you become a resource for other. Once you are a resource to others it makes it easier and a little more comfortable to ask others questions. There are a few reason why you should network, one is to obtain information about specific thing that you could have access to from websites and general visits. You could also find out what skill, abilities that are needed for the job or field of interest that you are targeting. some other reason to network is to find out about management styles and culture to see if you will fit in with you field of interest. You can also get referrals from other people and possibly find organizations that are hiring. Networking….Its older than you think!

Networking, this is really not something new it’s been going on for many decades (if not centuries). It is simply making connections with people. One central connection with many branches.
An example of networking is a building contractor; he has a “network” of sub-contractors that he deals with when he takes on a project such as masons, carpenters, electricians, etc. If a contractor relied on one person or company in one particular field of expertise he would be in a world of hurt if these people had another project to work on when he needed them. So, he builds a network of professionals so as to be able to accomplish his project in a timely manner. How many people have gone to the hospital? Yes, another network. You have doctors that have different specialties, nurses, technicians of different fields. Even our military is a network. Some protect by air, some by sea and some by land. All taking orders by the Secretary of Defense who gets orders from the President.
On a more personal level, most of us have more than one friend. Yes, another network. We rely on our friends for companionship, advice, and many other things. Each of us has our own network be it personal, professional or in some cases both. In some cases our networks intertwine with others by either having the same friends. Sometimes they intertwine because you’ve asked a friend for instance “do you know of a good mechanic?” Networks are everywhere and are going to keep growing. Enjoy your network for it may weave into a safety net for you. Any venue of life can have a network, you just have to keep your eyes and ear open to every opportunity. Thoughout the Centuries that networking has been around, it contiues to help people, places and in the end everyone could benefit from Networking.

Wireless Networking and what its about…

Wireless networks, connections between electronic devices through the use of satellite, infra red signal or radio frequency. Amateur radio (also known as ham radio) uses it on some frequencies calling it a repeater system. This system uses one central radio station to receive and retransmit communications using two different frequencies. Basic example of this would be a person 50 miles south of the repeater transmits to the repeater receiving frequency the repeater then retransmits this communication to another person 50 miles north of the repeater station thus a clearer communication. Systems similar to these are used by police, fire, rescue and other state and federal services. Wireless networks can even cover our entertainment. You have one remote control that operates several pieces of equipment via either radio frequency signals or in some cases ultra violet light signals. Most common wireless network is a cell phone. Regardless of which carrier you use, they are the central location to which your cell phone communicates taking your voice and turning it into electrical signals. From your carrier you are connected to the person you called taking those electric signals and turning them into sound in the earpiece of the phone called. Another wireless network that is popular is by laptop computers. You take your laptop to the local coffee shop and you have internet access thanks to an open wireless router. You can also attain access to the internet from your cell phone provider for your laptop via a device that plugs into your laptop and connects you to the internet through your cell phone provider. The great thing about wireless network is in the name “Wireless” it basically means that you can be anywhere that a wireless network is and be free of cord and wires, that could hinder you from anything.

The realities of the Internet

The majority of people using the internet are on social sites such as Facebook. Bringing a new spin on pen-pals because, no one can see pictures and chat in real time as opposed to waiting until the postal service delivers. Some use the internet for research seeing as there are bucket loads of information available via the internet on what are called search engines. These search engines are companies that provide information across the internet such as Google, Bing and Dogpile. There are others who use the internet to link their home computer to their work computer which is a form of networking. Just like anything else that deals with other people, you have to protect yourself. Since the internet is open to everybody there are people out there with bad intentions that are called “hackers”. These “hackers” are educated in means to access your computer as well as others in the form of programs such as Script or HTML which is used on most sites so you can see videos or pictures on the internet. Some more advanced “hackers” use what is called “binary code” which is what all computers use to run different operating systems such as Windows. Because of “hackers” there are programs designed specifically to try and protect your personal computer from attacks. These are called internet security programs and have also been bundled with other programs to protect your computer that are called “suites”. These programs are known by names such as Norton and McAffee and AVG. It is highly recommended that if you intend to access the internet that you have these programs in place. It is also recommended that you do a regular “system maintenance” on your computer to clear out what are called “cookies” which are the bits of information left on your computer each time you go to most internet pages so the page “remembers” you the next time you go to that page.

Computer Networking…what is it about?

So, what exactly is computer networking you ask? Well, its computers that are all connected to each other via a router or another computer which is called a “server”. These computer networks are used from the home, to businesses to even the internet. All so they can share files, pictures, music or whatever is needed in more than one location. Most home based networks are connected via router and with certain programs you can be in one room and play music in another via a separate computer from files on the first computer. Some advanced home networks use the server theory so as to put time limits on a child’s internet access as well as the rating in which to allow on the child’s computer from the comfort of the parent’s computer. Businesses use networks so employees can access files pertinent to their job without spending a bunch of time searching for it nor having to go from floor to floor or branch to branch. Merchandisers can locate product within the company and banks can tell you your current account balance at any branch or ATM all because of computer networks.Even law enforcement rely on computer networking to get pertinent information such as outstanding warrants, fingerprints, and even driving record information. Many of us are on one social network or another on the internet all of which are run on a multitude of servers. Some have the format of the site, some have our account information and some have the advertisements we see flashing somewhere on the screen. In conjunction with each other connects us to that website so we can interact on the site playing games or with other people. All in all there are many uses for computer networking most of which make things easier for us in the long run.

Internet and what it means in today’s world.

There is only one internet and it is used all over the world. This is not to be mistaken for an intranet which would be a network. You can connect via dial up modem which transfers the information at approximately 28 Mbps (Mbps is Megabits per second which is a measure of bits of information which is transferred per second) which is the slowest internet connection speed. You can also connect via cable modem or optical modem (used by Verizon Fios) as well as satellite and of course through a cell phone carrier depending on which one you use most of which run close to 100Mbps.Some of these options are wired (which means you have to connect to a source via a wire) and some are wireless (transmits directly from your computer through an installed device on your computer). The internet is a tool used for various reasons from business, to informational to leisure to name a few. Many people, companies and agencies use the internet on a daily basis. In some cases it helps make their lives easier by allowing them to pay bills, shop online at sites like JRDunn.com, be entertained with streaming television and much more. Being connected all over the world makes it much easier to conduct business faster as well as hold conversations with friends and family you would otherwise have to wait days if not weeks to hear back from. It is fairly easy to use that is why you will find that more and more children are accessing the internet though it is advised that children are monitored while they have access. This is suggested because there are ALL sorts of content on the internet and some may not be suitable for children. You can however change the settings on your computer to not allow certain ratings which will reduce the risk here. Aside from that people from all walks of life also have access. I’m not telling you this to scare you away from using the internet however knowledge is power.

using the internet to make friends…

The internet has become a good way to make friends, there are so many ways to meet people online like chat rooms, message boards and personals websites. Personals websites aren’t just for dating anymore, it’s one of the safer ways to make friend that you actually would meet in person. Although that once you get to know the friendship you make online might be a little harder to manage then the friends you have met already, cause if you decide not to get online for a month and just on to talk cause your bored then get on to talk they might be a little angry. It’s probably a really good idea to find out as much as possible about the people you meet online, because sometimes people lie and tell you things that you want to hear to try to get your personal information from you. There what you call hacker they get your personal information and use it to get into your accounts and anything else of importance. There are plenty of ways to safeguard yourself, there are websites that can help find out if these people are telling you the truth. Also never give out you telephone number in the first conversation you have with this person, because giving out you telephone number can lead to them using the reverse directory and finding your address. When you feel as though it would be safe to either talk on the phone or meet this person, you should take into consideration that this person will not sound or look like they told you they would because they may not want to scare you away. Just remember with any friendship, if you want to stand the test of time you have to put in some effort. But just remember that with internet friendships you should protect yourself at all times.
