So, what exactly is computer networking you ask? Well, its computers that are all connected to each other via a router or another computer which is called a “server”. These computer networks are used from the home, to businesses to even the internet. All so they can share files, pictures, music or whatever is needed in more than one location. Most home based networks are connected via router and with certain programs you can be in one room and play music in another via a separate computer from files on the first computer. Some advanced home networks use the server theory so as to put time limits on a child’s internet access as well as the rating in which to allow on the child’s computer from the comfort of the parent’s computer. Businesses use networks so employees can access files pertinent to their job without spending a bunch of time searching for it nor having to go from floor to floor or branch to branch. Merchandisers can locate product within the company and banks can tell you your current account balance at any branch or ATM all because of computer networks.Even law enforcement rely on computer networking to get pertinent information such as outstanding warrants, fingerprints, and even driving record information. Many of us are on one social network or another on the internet all of which are run on a multitude of servers. Some have the format of the site, some have our account information and some have the advertisements we see flashing somewhere on the screen. In conjunction with each other connects us to that website so we can interact on the site playing games or with other people. All in all there are many uses for computer networking most of which make things easier for us in the long run.
