Internet and what it means in today’s world.

There is only one internet and it is used all over the world. This is not to be mistaken for an intranet which would be a network. You can connect via dial up modem which transfers the information at approximately 28 Mbps (Mbps is Megabits per second which is a measure of bits of information which is transferred per second) which is the slowest internet connection speed. You can also connect via cable modem or optical modem (used by Verizon Fios) as well as satellite and of course through a cell phone carrier depending on which one you use most of which run close to 100Mbps.Some of these options are wired (which means you have to connect to a source via a wire) and some are wireless (transmits directly from your computer through an installed device on your computer). The internet is a tool used for various reasons from business, to informational to leisure to name a few. Many people, companies and agencies use the internet on a daily basis. In some cases it helps make their lives easier by allowing them to pay bills, shop online at sites like JRDunn.com, be entertained with streaming television and much more. Being connected all over the world makes it much easier to conduct business faster as well as hold conversations with friends and family you would otherwise have to wait days if not weeks to hear back from. It is fairly easy to use that is why you will find that more and more children are accessing the internet though it is advised that children are monitored while they have access. This is suggested because there are ALL sorts of content on the internet and some may not be suitable for children. You can however change the settings on your computer to not allow certain ratings which will reduce the risk here. Aside from that people from all walks of life also have access. I’m not telling you this to scare you away from using the internet however knowledge is power.
